Hello

My name is Billy Morris. I am the full time minister here at Canal church of Christ. I had a late start in the ministry, did not become a Christian until I was 29. I began my studies at Harding University, at the age of 30, where I graduated with a Bachelor in Ministry. Since then we have preached or taught in 11 states and two countries. Who would have thought that? God! I was not only given the blessing by God to have a new life, spiritually, but I was granted a new life physically here and now. Let me tell about that.

Here is how I came to meet Jesus Christ. I had the opportunity to meet the most beautiful woman in the world at place were I was a truck drive, at a time when I was the lowest, and when life couldn’t have gotten any darker. We sing a song that the words are truly what I experienced listen; “Let the lower light be burning, send a gleam across the wave some poor fainting traveling seaman you may rescue, you may save. I was that very seaman that the light came and saved.

Little did I know or see what God has planned for her and I to meet. I showed her what a sinner was and she introduced me to the Sinless Son of Man. Not many can say that they literally got to date and marry their best friend (still to this very day, no one closer), the one that you love more than any one else walking in this life and the very one that introduced me to Jesus the Christ. Terry has a heart for God, for His Son, and for His Kingdom. She is a natural at being Christ like in all situations. I would not be whom I a today (that is any good that is in me and that is seen through me) because of God and Terry (my best friend, the Christian woman) being obedient to God, following His teachings and walking with Him each day. We all need examples and we all are examples of some type. I realize that is a lot said, not about me, but about the fact that if one listens to God, experiences His word, and lives His life, that any one can influence some one. Terry did it. To this day, she stills influences me by here life, daily.

I am excited that God has given life and life abundantly. I do not want to waste this short life and precious time. I get energized daily by God’s word and wonderers. I know that evangelism is for every one and every one can tell some one about Jesus. I am one result of Terry living out what God says. I love to tell the story of God and Jesus Christ and

I love to tell of how real they both are in my life.

I teach and preach here at Canal how every day God is making an impact on this world and I encourage the folks here to let God do some impacting in their world through them. I know for a fact it happens, will continue to happen and we want to be apart of that.

Terry and I have two folks in our lives that we have to be examples for, Tanner who is now 5 and Rebecca who is 3. We thank God for them. These two wonderful lives help keeps us on our Christian toes and walking in God’s light. One aspect of being child like might the fact that children are not afraid to ask if what your doing is okay with God or not. To be like little children to those around seems to involve questioning why they are not doing what God teaches. Tanner and Rebecca do that for me in their childlikeness. They live and love life to the fullest every day, God given day, I am trying to learn that from them.

I believe in order for this life to be glorifying to God and edifying to others I have to be the best Christian friend and neighbor I can be. I have learned that Christianity is a life style not a building and Christ is the Book. The only way to be what God wants us to be is for us to be in the Bible and others reading the Bible in us.
